Meet your Teacher: Tania Kemou
Hi, I’m Tania and I’ve been practicing Ashtanga yoga for over a decade. This practice and especially my yearly travels to Mysore (the birthplace of Ashtanga) have changed my life and how I view the world. Now I want to share with you all the insights and blessings this practice and my teacher in India gave me.
This retreat is the opportunity for you to explore all aspects of Ashtanga Yoga, deepen your practice, gain new perspectives and draw inspiration. I want you to feel empowered and strong by learning how to use yoga to improve your health, life and relationships.
In my retreats I meet students where they are. Beginners and more experienced practitioners can coexist and profit from personalised instructions catered to their needs. If you are a beginner, after this retreat you will have the knowledge and tools necessary to start building a self practice. If you are already experienced I will help you consolidate, reach further, get unstuck and realise how much more you are capable of.
Every time I leave India, both my heart and mind are full. My goal is for you to leave this retreat the same way.
A journey of personal growth and at the same time an opportunity to escape, explore and evolve, this retreat is for all those who are seeking “something more”.
The Yoga Practice
We will be practicing twice a day, in the morning and afternoon. The morning practice will be mostly Mysore class. The retreat will open and close with a Led class.
In Mysore class students practice individually, each at their own pace and working together with the teacher on their particular needs, taking more time to approach certain poses and thus going deeper into the practice.
In Led class we will work through the Primary series, following the traditional Sanskrit counting. We will close every Led class with pranayama and a short seated meditation.
The afternoon classes will be workshops that will allow you to go deeper into the foundations of Ashtanga yoga and build a sustainable practice. In between practices there will be chanting and philosophy lectures followed by group discussions.
Typical schedule
Our first day will start in the afternoon with a Led class, followed by an opening circle to get to know each other. On our last day, we will practice only in the morning.
In between classes you will have plenty of free time to explore the beautiful beaches of Serifos, go hiking or enjoy a coffee and walk by the port.
Hotel Rizes
Say hello to Hotel Rizes, a charming boutique hotel built in the traditional architecture of the Cycladic islands. Located just a 5-minute drive from the bustling port town of Livadi, you'll be within walking distance from some of the most beautiful beaches of Serifos.
The hotel consists of 15 independent apartments of about 45 sqm each. Every apartment comes complete with a compact kitchen, cozy living area, en suite bathroom, air conditioning and a private terrace.
Our Yoga classes will take place in the stunning outdoor Shala - a stone-built structure perched atop a rock that offers a breathtaking view of the port town and Chora. You will practice surrounded by nature, but with the added comfort of protection from the elements.
Take a dip in the 25-meter swimming pool while admiring the stunning surroundings from the hotel's vast terrace. Refresh yourself with a drink from the pool bar or enjoy a meal at the fine-dining restaurant.
The taste of Greece
At our retreats, we strive to bring together the art of yoga and wholesome, nutritious food. Our chef has created a bespoke, vegetarian menu that blends traditional Greek cuisine with a modern twist, delivering the ultimate taste of Greece. And the best part? Everything is made with the freshest, organic ingredients so you can taste the Mediterranean sunshine in every bite.
All breakfast and dinner are included as part of the retreat. On 2 nights we will eat at restaurants on the island.
